This sector will be a key player in the journey to Net Zero so we are proud to honour its achievements.”

About the Project

In its search for an effective, low-cost energy saving measure that could easily be retrofitted to the buildings across its estate, The Belfry Hotel & Resort engaged Genius Hub to carry out a pilot project on one of its buildings, Jacklin House. The aim was to significantly reduce the energy consumption within the rooms of the hotel, while at the same time improving guest comfort. Through the simple expedient of fitting Genius Radiator Valves that would adjust the temperature depending on the occupancy of the room, the client found that a lot of heat energy could be saved.

Genius Hub carried out the work during normal working hours, taking only 20 minutes on average to install the equipment during routine room changeovers. The Monitoring and Verification report carried out before and after installation found an average of 64% saving in energy – the second-largest running cost of the hotel after staff. Following the high levels of customer satisfaction, Genius Hub is now being rolled out to other buildings across the Belfry estate.

The Results

Genius Hub has won the Energy Project of the Year: Commercial and Industrial Award for their work with the Belfry Hotel, and was praised by the expert judging panel, who are drawn from across the energy sector: Judges praised our winning project for its innovation and cost effectiveness and for being very transferable.
