The sun is shining, the weather is warm, you can almost say it’s summer already.

But these springish temperatures should also make you think about cleaning your heating system for improved heating efficiency during this spring. Also, have you ever thought about controlling your hot water remotely from an app over the summer so you can check you turned off your heating or hot water if you go away for a weekend break?

Here are a few ideas about what we recommend you could do this spring for your heating system.                 

                                                                            Have your boiler checked

If your boiler makes a rattling noise or your radiators are cold at the bottom, these can be signs that your central heating system might be suffering from a build-up of iron oxide ‘sludge’. The solution is to clean and drain your system, for example by getting it ‘power-flushed’. This way you make sure that your radiators heat up properly and your boiler will be able to perform at its top efficiency. ‘Power-flushing’ also increases the life of your boiler, as well as helping you to cut your bills.

Lower those indoor temperatures

As the weather is getting warmer, there is no need to have super-high temperatures in your
home. Think about turning down your radiator valves or your thermostat. According to Which turning down your heating by just 1°C can save you approximately £55/year. So, enjoy the sunshine while saving some money on your heating bills.
Tip: Use the money to buy something warm for a loved one next winter or maybe to make a donation to fuel poverty.

Ever thought about zoning your heating?

Having different temperatures in individual rooms can save a significant amount of money. Zoned heating systems allow you to set a different temperature in rooms that you use and have a lower temperature for areas in your home which are unoccupied.
